On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY! in 2012 the venom of the Brazilian wandering spider (also known as the banana spider) was found to be effective in relieving erectile dysfunction. Central and South American women have known of this spider for generations and have named it the house-wife’s little helper, as one bite from it to a man can cause an uncontrollable erection that can last for hours. Unfortunately, it can also result in impotence and there have been documented cases where the penis had to be surgically removed due to the uncontrolled swelling. Most wives polled agreed that it is an acceptable trade-off. 100% of the men polled said it wasn’t.
