On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1792 the guillotine was first used. A few years before the French Revolution, highwayman Nicolas Pelletier, was the first person executed with the now famous method of beheading. Eyewitness accounts reported that the crowded was very dissatisfied with the guillotine as it was too clean and too fast. They preferred a method with more show and pizzazz and where they could expect the executioner to screw up every now and then and totally butcher the person being killed.
