On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1961, American engineer Harold Graham made the first manned rocket backpack flight in Niagara Falls, New York. He rose to a height of feet and flew a distance of over 100 feet, proving that the concept was possible. Unfortunately, a person couldn’t carry enough fuel to make the rocket-pack commercially feasible and the dreams of teenage boys died a slow and disappointed death.
