On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1958 a tornado in Wichita Falls, Texas set a new wind speed record of 450 kph (280 mph). These speeds were so high that the WTAB (Witches Travel Advisory Board) advised that all brooms be grounded and not to use the bicycle/tornado assisted jump to Oz at that time as the windspeeds were too great for a safe takeoff or landing.
