On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1852 the California Historical Society was founded. This was interesting as California was not admitted as a state until 1850. The founders admitted that it was easier to start early and get a handle on the record keeping, as if they had waited a few decades, much of the interesting stuff would have been forgotten or the evidence would have been destroyed.
