On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1998 – the FDA approved the prescription drug Viagra. It was the first pill for male impotence that was government approved and that actually worked because of scientific research and medicine. Several businesses that ran ads on the back pages of comic books and nudie magazines became very fearful that their mail order industry for horny goat weed, dried and ground-up baby crocodile hearts, Spanish fly, dehydrated animal testicles, and self-hypnotism would go the way of flag semaphore. Little did they know that all they had to do was repackage their merchandise and sell it as weight loss aids in the back of women’s magazines at ten times the price and their profits would shoot through the roof.
