On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1954  WNBT-TV (now WNBC-TV), in New York, broadcast the first local color television commercials. The ad was for Castro Decorators of New York City. According to the commercial, Mad Max Castro was insane for selling his sofas, ottomans, and dining room suites for such low, low prices.
