On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 2001, Siena Heights University began offering a two-credit class called “Animated Philosophy and Religions”. It would cover how religion and philosophy are part of the popular culture and would be based on the television series “The Simpsons.” The Chief Homer of the Simpsonite Cult led his followers to protest Siena’s decision, but he and his Required Devil’s Advocate, Bart the Unrepentant, were sidetracked by a Duncan Donut Shop that was on their way to the University and never made it to their destination.

About Joel Byers

  1. True Believer says:

How could you go on about those heretics who have the nerve to call themselves Simpsonites, without even mentioning the only real followers of The Ways of Homer? We, The Simpsonites of the One True Path turn away from the foul blasphemy of Duncan Doughnuts and seek only the Holy goodness of the Krispy Kreme.

For it is written “And it shall be given unto thee a sign and it shall read ‘Hot Now’ and lo thou shalt eat of the doughnuts and they shall be fresh and good. Yet when the sign does not appear, there shall be much weeping and lamentation, for thy doughnuts shall be neither hot nor fresh (though they shall still be pretty darn good).” Thus sayeth the Word.

    D’oh.
