On May 8, 1987, Gary Hart, the former Democrat frontrunner in the race for the 1988 presidency, removed himself from the race. What happened to force this photogenic senator from Colorado to quit? Donna Rice happened. Donna Rice was a very attractive professional party-girl ex-sometime model who was having an affair with Gary Hart. Some reporters had received a tip that Senator Hart was involved with her and asked the senator if he was sleeping around. The Senator blew up at the reporters and dared them, DARED THEM, to put a tail on him and follow him around. He said he was innocent and that they’d find nothing. So, they did and within five days they had pictures of him with Donna Rice on the yacht ‘Monkey Business’ that were taken in March 1987. Another politician’s career ruined because he let the little head do all the thinking.
