On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY! in 1868, Tom Morris, Jr., scored golf’s first authenticated hole-in-one at Prestwick’s 8th hole in Scotland. Mr. Morris conveniently had a six foot high stack of Bibles close by, as well as his aged grandmother, whose life he happily swore upon. The next day in Glasgow, the elderly grandmother Morris was struck and killed by a black carriage pulled by six black horses and driven by the Devil himself. When the devil collected Grandma Morris’s soul she complained and said, “But Young Tom actually did hit that hole-in-one!” and the Devil responded, “Aye, but whose soul did you think he sold to get it? He’s a golfer, I’ve owned that blacken shriveled thing since the day he first picked up the sticks and started playing.”
