On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1965 the song “Louie Louie” was officially declared unintelligible. Rumors were rampant about the song lyrics containing obscene material and parents were sending letters of complaint to the government demanding that it be banned. The FBI launched a formal investigation and on this date declared that the lyrics were “unintelligible at any speed” and therefore could not be considered obscene.
