Constantinople was Byzantium
Now it’s Constantinople, not Byzantium
Been a long time gone, Byzantium
Now it’s a Roman delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Byzantium
Lives in Constantinople, not Byzantium
So if you’ve a date in Byzantium
She’ll be waiting in Constantinople

Even old Lundenwic was once New Londinium
Why they changed it I can’t say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Byzantium
No, you can’t go back to Byzantium
Been a long time gone, Byzantium
Why did Byzantium get kicked downstairs?
That’s nobody’s business but the legionnaires
