On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1626, Sir Francis Bacon died. He has been called the father of empiricism and his works established and popularized inductive methodologies for scientific inquiry and became known as the Baconian method or simply the scientific method. He died of pneumonia, supposedly contracted while studying the effects of freezing on the preservation of meat. He caught a cold from being out in the snow and cold as he was experimenting to see if the snow would act as a preservative for chicken meat. It seems that while cold will preserve chicken, it did not help prolong the Bacon.
