August 27, 1971

On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY! in 1971 an attempted coup failed in the African nation of Chad. Chad blamed Egypt and Libya for attempting to convince Syria and Sudan that Chad had been going out with Kuwait, when nothing could be further from the truth, although the pictures that Jordan had of Chad and Kuwait dining together in Instanbul were pretty damning. Syria did eventually give Chad back his letterman’s jacket and said that she hoped they could be friends, just not that kind of friend anymore. Heartbroken, Chad slept with Cameroon, Mali, and Angola before he got schlotzed and beat the crap out of Somalia.
