On this date in Twisted-History.com in 2008 Russia halted its five-day military assault on Georgia. When Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue learned of the assault on August 11, 2008 he mobilized his secret “Go Fishing” ninja task forces and had them patrol Lake Lanier, Lake Sinclair and the Chattahoochee River to find and repulse any of the Communists that tried to set foot on Georgia soil. When the Federal government finally called him and told him that Russia was attacking ‘Soviet” Georgia and that the Peach State was safe, Sonny just grinned and said “Well, boys, who knew?” Ex-governor Zell Miller sent him an e-mail that read, “I knew, you con-sorned fleabag. I made that same mistake a couple of times in the 1990s. If’n you had paid attention back then, you’d known it.”
