On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1961 the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a provision in Maryland’s constitution that required state officeholders to profess a belief in God. Thomas B. Finan, the Attorney General of Maryland, vowed to disregard the US Supreme Court’s decision and would continue to demand of each office holder to sign a written oath in their own blood professing their belief in God and their Lord Satan. On June 20, 1961, this requirement was quietly stopped and all previous copies of this oath were first bless with Holy Water and then burned.

    I can’t believe they got away with being Satan warshippers! You I bet you couldn’t do that today no way. Everybody would be like oh no and everything and we better not and then even if they did somebody else probably. I’m not a big church but I still wouldn’t. Not that I think that’s giing too far. But I guess the Suprem court won’t let them anyway. I’m just gladsomebody, don’t you think so?
