On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1667, Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Denys administered the first fully documented human blood transfusion. He transferred twelve ounces of sheep’s blood into a 15-year old French boy. To prepare the boy for the transfusion he was bleed 20 times by leeches. To everyone’s amazement, the boy survived and escaped to the mountain valleys of the French Alps where he lived for the next 47 years tending his herd of sheep and throwing large, sharp rocks at anyone who even looked like a doctor, barber, or scientist.
