On THIS DATE IN TWISTED-HISTORY in 1984 an LA federal jury acquitted John DeLorean on cocaine charges. The police were extremely confused as all the cocaine confiscated during the arrest went missing during the trial. The lead prosecutor, John “Trip” Fowler III, blamed the LA police and claimed that someone in the police department had to steal it. The LA police department’s evidence locker’s cameras showed the drugs were there one minute and mysteriously gone the next. LA Police Officer Corporal James “Lance” Dewitt stated that it was the oddest thing he’d ever experienced. He’d even taken a picture of the drugs when they were brought in and in his picture, the drugs just slowly started to fade away until they were all gone.

On July 3rd, 1985 the movie “Back to the Future” debuted and on July 6th, LA Police Officer Private James “Lance” Dewitt was sent to a mental hospital for evaluation after he watched the movie and started screaming, “That’s how they did it! That’s how DeLorean removed the evidence! Don’t you SEE! It was ‘Time Travel’! It was ‘Time Travel’!”
