On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1883 the first long distance telephone call between New York City and Chicago took place. It quickly evolved from cordial greetings into an acrimonious shouting match as the caller from New York began arguing with the receiver from Chicago about the virtues of a New York slice versus the Chicago deep dish travesty.
