March 3, 1876

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1876, meat rained from the sky in Bath County Kentucky and covered a rectangle area of approximately 100 by 50 yards. The meat appeared to be beef, but several of the braver Kentuckians claimed it tasted more like mutton, venison or lamb. Doctors of that time identified the mystery meat as lung tissue from either a horse or human infant, but no reasonable theories were ever formulated that would explain how so much lung tissue from either a horse or (several) infants could have fallen from a clear sky.
