January 6, 1994

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1994, Figure Skater Nancy Kerrigan was attacked and clubbed on her right leg by an assailant at Cobo Arena in Detriot, Michigan. Four men, including her chief rival’s husband, Jeff Gillooly were later sentenced to prison for the attack. Tanya Harding was able to escape jail and trial, as Mr. Gillooly claimed Tonya knew nothing about the attack. When asked why he did it, Mr. Gillooly explained that if Ms. Kerrigan wasn’t able to compete, then Tonya would win by default and earn all that sweet endorsement money. He also said the only thing that surprised him was how big a whiner Ms. Kerrigan was. He said that Tonya had taken hits much harder than that and came back swinging, but that Ms. Kerrigan went down crying and grabbing her leg like a French soccer player in the World Cup.
