On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1808 the United States stopped the importation of slaves from Africa, after discovering it was now cheaper to grow their own. The pros to growing your own slaves in the America was that they would already know the language and their place in society and they wouldn’t always be trying to escape and go home to Africa.
