On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 2011 a previously unknown species of bottlenose dolphin was identified by researchers at Australia’s Monash University. They named it Tursiops australis. Sonya Fitzpatrick was contacted and asked why the dolphins had waited so long to be discovered. She said that the Tursiops australis informed her that the other dolphins of the world kept telling them that people were bad and only wanted to eat them, but when they learned that people weren’t really that bad, but were known to give them free, tasty fish for jumping through some hoops and shaking flippers, they changed their collective mind. They wanted some of those free fish.
