July 28th, 1941

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com in 1941 plans for the Pentagon were approved by the U.S. House of Representatives after consulting with the Arkham architectural firm of Derleth and Smith. When asked by the military and the House why build a pentagon shaped building, Chief Engineer August Derleth explained that it was the safest shape for that particular plot of land.
