June 27, 1693

On This Date in TWISTED-HISTORY.com! in 1693 “The Ladies’ Mercury” was published by John Dunton in London. It was the first women’s magazine and contained a “question and answer” column that became known as the “Problem Page.” Many of the problems women had back then were the same as now. How to get a man with who still had some of his teeth. How to get a man who had a job. How to get a man who would bath at least once a month. How to get a man who didn’t have too many fleas or too much lice. And the favorite, how to get a rich, old man that would die during the wedding nuptials.

About Joel Byers

Born in North Georgia and educated at some very fine public institutions. Real education started after graduating from college and then getting married and raising two boys.
