On July 6, 1885, Louis Pasteur successfully tested his anti-rabies vaccine on young Joseph Meister. Nine-year-old Meister had just been recently bit multiple times by a rabid dog and was waiting to die. Pasteur’s vaccine was administered and Meister lived.
